The Traitors Adds New Season – And Says Farewell to Celebs
The Reality Flash on RHAP returns with host Mike Bloom and special guest Pooya breaking down a major shake-up in the reality TV landscape. NBC has officially announced a brand-new civilian edition of The Traitors, hosted once again by Alan Cumming.
After three all-celebrity seasons on Peacock, the U.S. version is opening the castle doors to everyday contestants. Filming will still take place in the breathtaking Scottish Highlands, with Cumming delivering his trademark blend of theatrical flair and dry wit. According to the host, having “real people” competing will add emotional weight, as the prize money will have an even greater personal impact.
Production is set to begin in spring 2026, with casting already underway. The grand prize will remain up to $250,000, awarded to the Faithfuls if they successfully identify and banish all the Traitors. However, if a Traitor survives to the end, they will claim the entire pot.
Mike and Pooya explore what this change means for the game’s dynamic. Civilian seasons have thrived in international versions, often producing unpredictable gameplay and intense personal rivalries. They also note the strategic advantage for NBC in broadening the show’s reach beyond Peacock, potentially drawing in viewers who have yet to experience The Traitors.
From the heightened stakes of amateur gameplay to the enduring charisma of Alan Cumming, this civilian season promises to deliver fresh drama, big betrayals, and unforgettable moments. The Reality Flash will continue to follow every twist, turn, and backstab on the road to the castle gates.
