After the Coyopa and Hunahpu tribes merge, John Rocker’s girlfriend Julie McGee quits Survivor San Juan Del Sur on November 5, 2014
Julie McGee is out of the game after deciding to quit on day 18. Stephen has absolutely no idea what the thinking behind her decision was, and Rob is left utterly baffled as well. Rob declares this to be the worst quit in the history of the show, even worse than Osten’s quit back in Survivor Pearl Islands. Rob recalls how Jeff Probst ripped into Osten for quitting the game back then and felt that he was using kid gloves when discussing the move with Julie at the end of the episode. Stephen points out that the whole trail mix gate incident wasn’t even going to get her voted out that night, so there was no valid reason for her to quit the game. Rob thinks this is probably the worst thing anyone has ever done to willingly spend more time with John Rocker.
Despite the lack of a tribal council, there were challenges and some strategy in this episode. Keith won the first individual immunity of the season after coming down to the wire with his son Wes in an endurance challenge. Stephen decides that he will probably give the Fishy(TM) for this episode to Reed, for planting the seed to Jon and Jaclyn that Jeremy wanted to target the couples. Rob disagrees with this decision, but Stephen defends himself by arguing that he’s given the Fishy(TM) to Josh too many times.
The Know It Alls also discuss the awful combination of tribe names to create a merged tribe name, a cardinal sin of Survivor according to Rob, as well as the gender divide that was teased in the promo for next week’s episode. They also analyze Muffin and Baylor’s strategic plays and how they compare to Laura Morett and Ciera Eastin, and take listener questions about why the women get more than one buff, whether quitters should be on the jury, and how Jeremy fits into Josh and Reed’s strategy (and vice versa).
