This week, Big Brother UK 2014 is going to premiere on Thursday, June 5th on Channel 5 in the UK. Rob Cesternino gets a primer on what makes Big Brother UK so different from the American version and how people in the US can see it from RHAP contributor Curt Clark and Big Brother US winner, Ian Terry.
What to Expect from Big Brother UK 2014 and How to Watch it in the U.S.
Curt Clark and Ian Terry plan to cover the Big Brother 2014 premiere for Rob Has a Podcast and to get ready, the BB UK fans join Rob to explain what we should expect. The BB UK game has many key differences from the US and Canadian versions of the game. The Big Brother UK game is a lot more similar to the original Big Brother US season where the houseguests vote to nominate a person for eviction. Once two or more players are nominated, the viewers will decide the fate. Sometimes the viewers decide who will be evicted and sometimes the viewers decide who will be safe.
There are also rules in the BB UK house which prevent the players from talking strategy with one another. Occasionally, they relinquish this ban for a few weeks, but the norm is for there not to be any strategy talk. There is some speculation that this upcoming season might be very strategic based on the season title, “Power Trip” and from the YouTube trailer featured below.
There is far more sexual activity in the Big Brother UK house and a lot of it will often be aired. It’s not uncommon for there to be a lot of people hooking up at one time on Big Brother UK.
According to Curt, the BB UK episodes are very easy to find on YouTube. These episodes will typically be posted on YouTube shortly after they air without the need for a plugin for your browser (as was necessary to watch Big Brother Canada for many in the US).
After hearing all about the premiere for this season, Rob decides that he is going to give BB UK a try and check out the premiere. Shortly after the first episodes this week, Rob, Ian and Curt will reconvene to discuss Big Brother UK 2014 and everything that happens.
