in defense of Russell being fat…. Boston Rob looks pretty “doughy” too… could it be that since they are returnign players, they were smart enough to “bulk up” prior to getting out there?

I liked Sandra much better as an interview guest than I ever have on the show. However, I think its a convenient mentality to suggest whoever wins, regardless of how they got there “deserved” it. I think that make it easier for her to rationalize her two wins.

All the Russell haters, including Sandra, always bring up his poor social play, which I readily concede, but I see survivor as 3 phases. Strategy, Challenge play, and Social. So if I was to evaluate Russell, I’d say he is a great strategist, average to good in challenges and poor in the social game.

Sandra has little to no strategy, is worthless in challenges and has a good social game. So why was Sandra so deserving in HvV? Wasn’t Parvati the more deserving player? She was great in strategy, average to good in challenges, and had an average social game, although managing Russell’s ego was a pretty tough task.

Heading in to this first episode of RI, I was skeptical of the Rob/Russell inclusion, but having seen the first episode, I like the dynamic that it adds to the game. And I think that only works with two polarizing players like those two. Coming off Samoa I was firmly in the Russel camp having been disappointed by his loss in that season. But for whatever reason I find myself rooting for both guys to make it far this season.

Oh. My. God. Rob called it from the pre-season podcast that Matt was most likely to get into a showmance that would ultimately cost him the game. HOW DID HE PREDICT THAT?!?!?!

I dislike when people say that Russell is a horrible Survivor because he can’t win. If we look at only the players’ final results, and no other aspect of the game, then out of the people who have played at least twice, Russell is tied for the second-greatest Survivor of all time. His average ranking is 2.5, equivalent to Amanda’s average ranking after her first two times playing. The only person with a better ranking is Sandra. So whenever someone uses the logic that Sandra is the best player because she won twice, they must also admit that Russell is in the top three of all players, at least until we find out how he does on Redemption Island. I have yet to hear a logical set of criteria that does not put Russell in the top 5 Survivors of all time.

I just started listening to these podcasts a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to listen to all the Sandra podcasts. The Sandra podcasts are the best!
